About Vampire Facials

A vampire facial is a minimally invasive treatment that combines microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to enhance the health and appearance of the skin. It has gained popularity over the last few years for its ability to effectively restore a natural and more youthful-looking complexion.

  • Microneedling: Microneedling is a highly popular skin treatment that uses a device outfitted with small needles to create controlled micropunctures in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. This stimulates the body to produce more collagen, enhancing the health and elasticity of the skin. (2) The microchannels created during microneedling also make it easier for topical serums like PRP to be absorbed.
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma: Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is made from the patient’s own blood and has regenerative properties. It is believed to stimulate neocollagenesis and the release of growth factors. There are over 20 different types of growth factors found in PRP, as well as small proteins called cytokines, which can help reduce inflammation and enhance the immune system. (3)

Together, the combination of microneedling and PRP can enhance collagen production and rejuvenate the skin more effectively.

Benefits of Vampire Facials

The vampire facial comes with several advantages, making it a highly sought-after treatment. These advantages may include:

  • Natural Results: This treatment utilizes each patient’s own blood, harnessing the powers of natural processes while minimizing the risks of allergic reactions or complications.
  • Enhanced Collagen Production: Both microneedling and PRP can help stimulate collagen synthesis, leading to firmer, smoother, and healthier skin.
  • Improved Skin Texture: Patients often notice fewer imperfections, enhanced texture, and an overall more radiant complexion after this facial.
  • Quick Recovery: As a minimally invasive procedure, patients experience a faster recovery in comparison to more invasive treatments or surgical intervention.
  • Lasting Effects: The results of a vampire facial can last several months as new collagen forms, leading to continuous improvements in skin quality and health.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for a vampire facial include patients interested in rejuvenating the appearance and health of their skin. Suitable candidates include those who:

  • Are experiencing signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Want to reduce the appearance of acne scars and enlarged pores.
  • Struggle with sun damage or hyperpigmentation.
  • Have sagging or loose skin around their face and neck.
  • Are interested in a more natural and non-surgical treatment option.

All candidates interested in our vampire facial should be in good overall health and hold realistic expectations regarding the outcome of their treatment. The vampire facial is not recommended for those with active infections or certain skin conditions. (2) Our specialist will determine each patient’s candidacy during their personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

Before undergoing their vampire facial, patients will need to attend a personal consultation. During this consultation, our specialist will meet with each patient to learn more about their medical history, symptoms, and ideal outcomes. They will also evaluate the quality and condition of the skin. This information is then used to determine each patient’s candidacy for our vampire facial and develop their treatment plan.

Procedure

On the day of the procedure, each patient will be taken to a private area where their skin will be cleansed and sanitized. A small sample of blood will be taken, comparable to a regular doctor’s appointment. This sample is then processed through a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the other cellular components and matter within the blood. (4)

The skin processional will apply a topical anesthetic to the face to help minimize any potential discomfort. Using the microneedling device, they will pass the needles over the skin to create uniform rows of tiny micropunctures. After microneedling, they will apply the PRP topically to the treated areas. The skin will absorb the microchannels created during microneedling.

Recovery

A huge benefit of the vampire facial is its quick recovery time. Patients can return to their daily routines immediately after their appointment, but will need to avoid physical or high-impact activities, as well as direct sun exposure. It is normal to experience redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treatment area, but these effects typically subside within several days. The specialist will provide a set of personalized aftercare instructions for each individual during their personal consultation. Our team will also be available for any support or questions each patient may have throughout their recovery.

Botox/Dysport

Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved injectable treatments designed to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and creases. These treatments are neuromodulators, meaning they block the transmission of certain neurotransmitters to relax the facial muscles. This not only softens the appearance and symptoms of facial aging, and can also stop them from worsening if treatments are regular. Neuromodulators are the most popular minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in the country, with over 9.88 million injections administered in the year 2024 alone. (5)
