About Keravive
Keravive is a treatment designed to provide nourishing hydration to the scalp and promote enhanced hair growth. The scalp is composed of soft tissue and serves as a physical barrier to protect the head from trauma or injury. (1) Many patients are surprised to learn that the scalp has its own microbiome, which must be maintained for optimal appearance and health. (2) Keravive can achieve this by utilizing specialized suctioning technology to remove buildup, debris, and impurities from the scalp’s surface, followed by administering a nourishing and hydrating serum to improve the hair itself.

Each patient will need to attend a personal consultation at one of our Southern California offices. During this consultation, Dr. Ashraf or another team member will ask each patient about their concerns and treatment goals before evaluating the condition of their scalp. Using this information, we will decide whether Keravive is the right treatment for each patient. Preparation
In preparation for each Keravive treatment, each patient will receive a set of preparation guidelines. Preparation is minimal but crucial to achieving optimal results.
Patients will need to temporarily discontinue chemical scalp treatments, such as relaxers or perms, one week before the appointment. Coloring services, as well as heavier styling products, should also be avoided for several days. Patients will need to stay hydrated the day before and morning of the appointment, and should skip applying topical scalp medications on the day of the treatment.
Procedure
On the day of the procedure, each patient should arrive with clean hair, free from any buildup or oils. We will take each patient to a private area and start the treatment. A Keravive treatment begins with cleansing and exfoliating the scalp using a suctioning wand. As it glides across the scalp, it removes dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and product buildup. This helps improve the scalp’s circulation and unclogs pores.
We will then apply a serum to the scalp to help hydrate the hair and enhance growth. The serum contains peptides, growth factors, and proteins that support cellular regeneration and improve scalp and hair health. This serum is then massaged into the scalp to stimulate better circulation and to ensure it nourishes the hair follicles. At the end of each Keravive treatment, the patient will receive a take-home spray that contains peptides to support lasting results.
Recovery and Results
As there is no downtime associated with Keravive, each patient will be free to leave after their treatment. However, there are certain restrictions patients will need to follow. Hair washing should be avoided for 6-12 hours so that the serum can be absorbed into the scalp. Chemical treatments or coloring sessions should be avoided for several days, as well as harsh hair products, including gels, hairsprays, and more. Patients should use the take-home peptide spray each night, ensuring their scalp is being focused on rather than the hair itself. Any further post-treatment instructions will be provided during each patient’s personal consultation.
After treatment, patients enjoy a cleaner, more balanced, and deeply hydrated scalp. Itchiness or irritation will subside naturally, and many patients experience denser or fuller-looking hair growth and reduced shedding. While noticeable improvements may appear after one session, optimal results typically require three to six treatments spaced out over time.
Patients interested in Keravive should note that it is not designed as a hair restoration treatment. It is designed to create a healthier foundation for hair growth and is often performed in conjunction with another hair restoration procedure.
