TCA Peel

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Newport Beach, Upland and Ontario, CA

Trichloroacetic acid, or TCA, is a commonly used chemical peel. Dr. Ashraf uses this peel to treat different conditions like melasma or sun damage. TCA is a chemical which should be applied by a medical specialist such as Dr. Ashraf.

What Is a TCA Peel?

This is a non-invasive skin treatment used to treat several conditions, such as skin discolouration, uneven texture, wrinkles, scarring, and sun spots.  TCA peel works well in clearing away dead skin cells and revealing the new youthful layer of skin from below.

How Does It Work?

The peels can be done at various depths ranging from deep to shallow. TCA dissolves the cells of the top layer of the skin. As the skin gets affected by the TCA application, a new layer of skin cells starts growing underneath. Through this treatment, Dr. Ashraf removes the top layer of the skin. The new layer of skin that becomes visible is not only smoother but also less affected by acne scarring or wrinkles.

Candidates for TCA Peels

Chemical peels, in general, are categorized into three types – deep, medium and superficial. TCA peels fall under the medium category, which means only a certified professional can apply them. TCA peel is an excellent option for treating melasma. It can also be used to treat wrinkles, scarring, and skin discolouration.

However, you should avoid TCA peel if you have a history of keloids or skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis. Pregnant women should also consider avoiding peels.
